After i read the first one hundred pages, we read get to know the Aunt. She's very different from their father, she's more a free spirit and accepts others for who they are. Kambili and her cousin don't get along very well at first. Her cousin tends to point out everything she does wrong, but she finally starts to be more understanding and considerate of how Kambili is, where she comes from, and how her life style is.
On page 98, Amaka tells Kambili's Papa that his drink made in the factory was a little too sweet. Kambili was really shocked by her saying this because at home everyone rushes to tell papa how amazing everything he brings home from the factory is. They're so used to trying their very best to please apa that she couldn't believe she said that.
Previously in the book it talks about Aunty Ifeoma asking Papa for help, and how he said he would help, but they had to move near him, and follow his rules, and his religion and do everything his way; she said she would rather go without than be who she isn't.
On page 105 Kambili goes to confession to say her sins. She tells all her sins, yet "Father" keeps trying to persuade her to tell more. This is just another connection on how religion plays a big role in their life, and how they go weekly.
